Regional Inter-Faith Dialogues on Adolescent Health 2021

UNESCO Project Office, Kampala, Uganda in collaboration with the SRHR Alliance Uganda will be conducting Regional Live TV-Inter-Faith Dialogues as part of a campaign to target Religious Leaders and Faith Based Organizations aimed at deliberating on the views of theologians in various communities of faith on adolescent health, establish the current trends in adolescent health & within faith communities in Uganda, share and learn how different communities of faith are responding to adolescent health challenges and provide recommendations on how religious leaders could enhance access to information and services within faith communities.

The goal of these dialogues is to stimulate conversation on faith-based actions and collaborations towards addressing health challenges faced by adolescents and young people in Uganda. The specific objectives are:

  1. To share and discuss with the religious leaders on the emerging health issues/challenges faced by adolescent and young people amidst the covid-19 pandemic;
  2. To reflect and share opinions on how the health challenges faced by adolescent and young people can be addressed from the faith-based perspectives;
  3. To share experience and best practices on the roles of faith-based leaders in addressing these health challenges faced by adolescent and young people; and
  4. To generate consensus on key mechanisms and actions to mainstream response to the health challenges faced by adolescent and young people in the faith-based contexts.

The Regional Dialogues are scheduled as follows: Eastern Region (Jinja)- September 02, 2021; Western Region (Mbarara)- September 7th 2021 and Northern Region (Arua) - September 9th 2021.

Ultimately, the dialogues will contribute to enhancing the implementation of Sexuality Education and Adolescent Reproductive Health and Rights for in and out of school Adolescents and young people in Uganda by creating a safe and conducive environment.
